Auto-renew is off by default. You turn it on yourself, and even then we never silently charge your saved card.
Before you can turn it on
Auto-renew needs a default saved card. Add one from Dashboard → Settings → Payment Methods → Add a card. That flow creates a small one-EGP verification charge which confirms the card works and is set as your default.
If there is no saved default card, the toggle refuses with a NO_DEFAULT_CARD message and links you straight to the Add a card screen — nothing is charged and nothing is saved silently.
How a renewal actually happens
- A renewal reminder reaches you a few days before your period ends — 3 days before a monthly renewal and 7 days before an annual one.
- We prepare a renewal checkout for your plan.
- You confirm it in the secure checkout page. The renewal only completes when you do.
We never charge a saved card in the background without that confirmation step.
Turning it off
Switch auto-renew off in Settings → Subscription. Your membership keeps running until the end of the period you already paid for, and nothing else renews.
About the saved card
- We store only a secure token issued by our payment partner, together with the card brand and last four digits so you can recognise it. We never see or store your full card number, CVV or expiry date.
- You can revoke a saved card at any time from Payment Methods. Revoking it also turns auto-renew off, because auto-renew needs a default card.
- Card details entered on the payment page are handled on a PCI-DSS compliant hosted page — never inside TechExpo.
